Lifters excel at American Open

With over 950 registered athletes, the 2015 American Open was the largest weightlifting competition in the history of the sport worldwide. The event took place over three days, December 4-6, on four platforms within the spacious Silver State Pavilion at the Grant Sierra Resort in Reno, NV.

CHFP Weightlifting got off to a great start with stellar performance from Jonathan Greg in 77 kg class. Jon went 5 for 6, with a personal best snatch at 105 kg, 127 kg clean and jerk, for a 232 kg Total. John Bova followed with a flawless 6 for 6 performance. John earned personal bests in the snatch (101 kg), clean and jerk (125 kg) and total (226 kg).

Day 1 concluded with Roman Rodriguez and Nick Bailey competing in the 85 kg class. Both guys lifted with excellent focus and composure in their first national-level competition. Roman went 3/6 with best lifts of 109 kg (SN) and 125 kg (CJ). Nick went 4/6 with best lifts of 105 kg (SN) and 134 kg (CJ).

The final day featured Jessie Bradley in the women's 75A session. Jessie produced another strong performance setting a junior American record in the snatch with 99 kg on her way to becoming the 75 kg class American Open Champion.
