Owens Brings Home Medals at First International Championships

On Friday, June 9, CHFP youth athlete Avery Owens made her international championship debut as a member of Team USA competing at the Youth Pan American Championships in Palmira, Colombia.

Competing in the 75 kg class, Avery was successful on 5 of 6 attempts and combined a best snatch of 78 kg with a personal best clean and jerk of 102 kg to win BRONZE for snatch, clean and jerk and total. Within days of her return to the US, Avery will travel to Grand Rapids MI to compete at the USA Weightlifting National Youth Championships.

Overall, Team USA delivered a very strong performance with a nice haul of medals- 8 gold, 2 silver and 8 bronze, 18 in total.
