Strong Start to Competition Season at NAO Series I
CHFP Weightlifting traveled to traveling to Columbus, Ohio with seventeen team and club athletes for four full days of compeition at the North American Open Series 1 and the National University Championships. Tremendously pleased and proud of the effort and our continued growth as a team. We had several new members to the team compete with us and a few who competed in their first Series event. Overall, our squad produced 20 personal bests and earned 13 medals- 11 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze.
Among the highlights of the individual performances, Fatima Khan got it started on Day 1 with PRs in the snatch, the clean+jerk and for total. Fatima [55 kg] produced personal bests with 51 kg and 64 kg to add 5 kg to her total.
On Day 2, Masters athletes Lacretta Incorvaia and Karen Agena had strong showings. Lacretta had best lifts of 52 kg (SN) and 63 kg (CJ) and Karen enjoyed a 5/6 performance with best lifts of 58 kg and 72 kg.New CHFP Weightlifting team member Kavisha Patel also enjoyed a 5/6 performance in her NAO Series debut. Kavisha [64 kg] combined a best snatch at 51 kg with a 60 kg clean and jerk for a 111 kg total.
On Day 3 , Masters athlete Brian Leung had a fantastic meet going 5/6 with a best snstch at 90 kg and a best clean and jerk at 114 kg. Masters athlete Ashley Burnell and Chelsea Eskridge lifted in the 71 kg class for this Series event. Ashley went 4/6 with top lifts at 45 kg (SN) and 66 kg (CJ). Chelsea enjoyed a stellar 6/6 PR performance. Chelsea combined a best snatch of 53 kg with a personal best 74 kg in the clean and jerk for a 127 kg PR total. Nick Hallmark celebrated his first in-person competition with a fine 5/6 performance on the platform. Nick [89 kg] produced top lifts of 103 kg in the snatch and 131 kg in the clean and jerk and established new competition bests in the clean and jerk and for total. Youth athlete Fionn McCabe delivered a gritty, PR performance! Fionn [76 kg] combined a best snatch of 70 kg with a personal best 94 kg clean and jerk for a PR total of 164 kg. Fionn added 2 kg to her best total achieved in the December Online Qualifier and added 26 kg since her last "in-person" competition - the Youth National Championships last June.

Taryn Pascual delivered an outstanding performance to kick off the fourth and final day of competition. Making her AO Series debut, Taryn [87+] was successful on 5 of 6 attempts with a best snatch at 76 kg and a personal best clean and jerk at 102 kg! James Combs produced a big PR perormance. James [102 kg] went 5/6, matching his personal best in the snatch with 117 kg and followed that up with a PR clean and jerk at 141 kg for a personal best total at 258 kg. Junior athlete Sarah Uschmann had a terrific session on Sunday afternoon to conclude four great days of competition for CHFP Weightlifting. Sarah [87+] was prepared to use this Series event as a train-through meet and delivered attempts close to her personal bests. Sarah breezed through her first five attempts with the sole miss an unsuccessful PR clean and jerk attempt at 111 kg. Sarah delivered a 99 kg snatch and a best clean and jerk at 106 kg for a 205 kg total.
