Lifters shine at Master World Cup, Nationals

USA Weightlifting did an outstanding job serving as host of the IWF Masters World Cup and the USAW National Championships in Dallas, TX. CHFP Head Coach Cara Heads Slaughter had three athletes competing during the week. First up was John Bova who was competing in the IWF Masters World Cup. John delivered an exceptional 6/6 performance on the plafform, leading to personal bests on both lifts- PR 98 kg snatch, PR 122 kg CJ, capped with a PR total of 220 kg, sweeping the gold medals in the M35 69 kg class.

4x CrossFit Games athlete Gretchen Kittelberger competed in her first USA Weightlifting National Championships. Gretchen had a tough battle with 73 kg in the snatch but got it going in the clean and jerk with successful lifts of 90 kg and 94 kg, just missing a personal best 97 kg that was turned down by majority for a very slight press out..

Current Jr national champion and world team member Jessie Bradley delivered a very strong performance on the final day of the National Championships. Lifting at her first senior national championships, Jessie went 5/6 with personal bests in the snatch (96 kg) and the clean and jerk (114 kg). She won gold and in the snatch and bronze in the overall total in the 75 kg class. Her 210 kg total exceeded her previous best total by 8 kg!
