Bova to Join CHFP Weightlifting
CH Fitness and Performance is excited to announce that John Bova will join CHFP Weightlifting as Asst. Head Coach. John will lead and coordinate all CHFP Weightlifting team activities at local competitions as well as manage and support Masters-age team members competing nationally and internationally. Head Coach Cara Heads Slaughter will continue to oversee all club and team operations as well as personally direct the development of Youth, Junior and Senior age athletes who compete nationally and internationally.
John has trained under Cara's tutelage since 2013. Since that time, John is a two-time American Open competitor and has won multiple gold medals at Masters-age championships nationally and internationally. John returns to CHFP Weightlifting from B&R Barbell which he co-founded and launched in the fall of 2014. John holds certifications as a USAW Sports Performance Coach and a CrossFit Level 1 Coach. "I'm a firm believer in synchronicity and my new role with CHFP Weightlifting embodies this concept; the coincidental occurrence of meaningful events. I cut short my original apprenticeship with Cara back in 2013 to start B&R Barbell Club. I am now in a position to bring several years of experience as an athlete and club coach to a well-oiled machine in CHFP Weightlifting to guide athletes in their pursuit of excellence on the competition platform", said Bova.
Heads Slaughter added, "I could not be more excited to have John help lead the ongoing expansion of CHFP Weightlifting. John is a remarkably disciplined and technically proficient lifter. I am confident that John's experience and success on the platform as well as his knowledge and steady hand as a coach will provide tremendous value to our team."
