Coach Cara named Community Ambassador to Team USA Council on Racial and Social Justice

Coach Cara Heads Slaughter has been named as a Community Ambassador of the newly appointed Team USA Council on Racial and Social Justice. The USOPC, Athletes’ Advisory Council, National Governing Bodies and the U.S. Olympians & Paralympians Association appointed the Council to address the rules and systems in the Olympic and Paralympic movements that create barriers to progress.

The Council is charged with working collaboratively to provide solutions and recommendations with the aim of eradicating social injustice and cultivating change through strengthened athlete voices.

Community Ambassadors will work to push the conversation on race and justice beyond the Council and appointed steering committees, actively engaging the broader community to share updates on action items, solicit feedback, and create communication channels to share resources and experiences of Team USA athletes.

As a Community Ambassador, Cara will serve as an extension of the Council, working as a liaison between the USOPC, the broader athlete community, USA Weightlifting, as well as in the DC metro region.
